Universitas Andalas Strengthens Global Academic Engagement Through Global Academic Exchange Week 2026
Padang, 03 September 2026
Universitas Andalas (UNAND) continued to
strengthen its international academic presence through the participation of Dr.
Zulprianto from the Faculty of Humanities in the Global Academic Exchange Week
2026, organized by Lovely Professional University (LPU), India.
Held on 2 September 2026 at the School of Liberal
and Creative Arts (Social Sciences & Languages), the academic session
featured Dr. Zulprianto as a global educator delivering a lecture entitled
“Exploring Human Experience Through Linguistic Expressions: A Systemic
Functional Linguistics (SFL) Perspective.”
During the session, Dr. Zulprianto explored how
language plays a fundamental role in transforming human experience into
meaning. Drawing on the Systemic Functional Linguistics framework, the lecture
discussed the relationship between language, human experience, and the process
through which material reality is represented through semiotic resources.
The academic exchange provided an opportunity for
Universitas Andalas to share Indonesian perspectives on linguistics with an
international academic audience while promoting cross-cultural dialogue and
scholarly interaction. Through this engagement, faculty members and students
were able to gain broader perspectives on contemporary linguistic studies and
the role of language in understanding human experience across different social
and cultural contexts.
Dr. Zulprianto’s participation also reflects Universitas
Andalas’ commitment to expanding the international engagement of its academics
and increasing the visibility of its scholarship within the global higher
education community. Academic mobility and international teaching engagements
such as the Global Academic Exchange Week provide important platforms for
lecturers to exchange knowledge, develop academic networks, and explore
potential collaborations in education and research.
The activity contributes directly to the
achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),
particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, by promoting inclusive and
internationally connected learning opportunities and facilitating the exchange
of knowledge between higher education institutions. It also supports SDG 17:
Partnerships for the Goals by strengthening academic partnerships and
encouraging collaboration among universities, educators, and scholars across
national boundaries.
For Universitas Andalas, participation in
international academic platforms is an important part of its broader
internationalization strategy. By encouraging lecturers and researchers to
engage in global academic activities, UNAND aims not only to enhance
institutional visibility but also to create meaningful opportunities for
collaborative teaching, joint research, academic mobility, and the development
of sustainable international partnerships.
Through initiatives such as the Global Academic
Exchange Week 2026, Universitas Andalas continues to bring its academic
expertise to the global stage while fostering knowledge exchange, intercultural
understanding, and stronger connections with the international higher education
community.
