Universitas Andalas Achieves National Research and Community Service Funding Success in Support of SDG 4 and SDG 9

Universitas Andalas has recorded
a major achievement after 245 research proposals and 16 community service
proposals secured funding from the Directorate of Research, Technology, and
Community Service of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and
Technology for the 2024 fiscal year. This accomplishment is closely related to
SDG 4 on Quality Education and SDG 9 on Industry, Innovation and
Infrastructure, as it reflects the strengthening of academic excellence,
research capacity, and innovation-driven contributions from higher education.
According to the report
published on June 2, 2024, the achievement placed Universitas Andalas third
nationally among state universities with legal entity status in the number of
funded research proposals, and fourth nationally for community service
proposals. The result highlights the university’s growing role in producing
academic work and community-based programs with measurable impact.
Rector Efa Yonnedi expressed
pride in the achievement, saying it reflected the perseverance and dedication
of Universitas Andalas lecturers and researchers in producing their best work.
He also expressed hope that the funding would be used optimally to generate
productive, innovative, and beneficial research for the advancement of science
and technology. In addition, he encouraged lecturers and researchers to
continue creating and innovating through community service programs that offer
concrete solutions to societal problems.
Chair of the Institute for
Research and Community Service of Universitas Andalas, Prof. Marzuki, added
that the university continues to improve the quality of its research and
community service proposals so that more submissions can pass the national
selection process and receive funding in the future. He stated that the
university is targeting a higher number of funded proposals next year through
various improvements and training programs for lecturers and researchers. He
also conveyed appreciation to all parties involved in the proposal selection
process, including reviewers and the LPPM team of Universitas Andalas.
Overall, this achievement
underscores Universitas Andalas’ strong commitment to advancing research and
community service as integral parts of higher education. With this level of
national recognition, the university is further strengthening its role in
developing knowledge, fostering innovation, and delivering tangible benefits to
society through academic work and public engagement.
