Padang, 04 December 2025
Padang — Universitas Andalas continues to support
sustainable community-based economic development in line with SDG 8 (Decent
Work and Economic Growth) and SDG 14 (Life Below Water) through a community
service program conducted by the Department of Management, Faculty of Economics
and Business. The initiative focused on strengthening the capacity of fisheries
MSMEs at Si Pujuk Farm.
The program was implemented by a team of lecturers
from the Department of Management, Universitas Andalas, targeting the
development of small-scale fisheries businesses. The initiative aimed to
enhance business management practices while increasing the economic potential
of fisheries-based enterprises managed by local MSME actors.
Through this activity, the team provided mentoring
and capacity-building support to the business partner, particularly in
strengthening managerial aspects and business development strategies. This
approach was designed to help MSME actors manage their businesses more
systematically, improve productivity, and ensure long-term sustainability.
This community service initiative reflects the
contribution of Universitas Andalas academics in supporting the development of
MSMEs based on local potential. Through knowledge transfer and practical
assistance, business actors are expected to strengthen their operational
capacity and expand market opportunities for their fisheries products.
Through this program, Universitas Andalas
reinforces collaboration between academia and the community in promoting local
economic development in the fisheries sector. The initiative is expected to
improve MSME performance while contributing to sustainable economic growth in
the community.
