Advancing SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals): Andalas University and AAGC Strengthen Access to Education through Scholarship Program
Padang, 05 September 2025
Padang, September 5, 2025 — Andalas University, in
collaboration with the Alumni Andalas Golf Club (AAGC), continues to support
the achievement of SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the
Goals) by providing scholarships totaling IDR 150 million to 70 students. The
symbolic handover was conducted by the Rector of Andalas University, Efa
Yonnedi, accompanied by AAGC Chairman Suwirman, at the Senate Meeting Room,
Rectorate Building, Limau Manis Campus.
This scholarship program represents a tangible
contribution from alumni to support education at Andalas University. In his
remarks, Suwirman explained that although AAGC is relatively new, having been
established only two years ago, it carries three main missions: promoting golf
as a sport, contributing to social initiatives for Andalas University, and
supporting alumni career and business development.
“This scholarship is the result of a golf
tournament we organized with support from our main sponsor, Bank Nagari,” he
stated. He also encouraged students not only to focus on academic achievements
but also to actively engage in organizational activities to build valuable
networks for their future.
Echoing this sentiment, AAGC Advisory Board member
Roni Edrian expressed hope that the scholarship would serve as a stepping stone
for students to achieve their aspirations. He also encouraged recipients to
cultivate a culture of giving, so that they may contribute back to the
university community in the future.
Rector Efa Yonnedi conveyed his appreciation to
AAGC for transforming golf activities into meaningful social contributions. He
noted that such initiatives further strengthen the role of alumni in supporting
the development of the university.
On the same occasion, the Rector also announced the
upcoming launch of MyUNAND during the university’s anniversary celebration.
This integrated digital platform is designed to serve as a centralized academic
service system for students, lecturers, and parents. “This innovation is not
merely about digital certification, but part of Andalas University’ milestone
toward becoming a World Class University by 2045,” he emphasized.
Through this scholarship program, Andalas
University underscores the importance of collaboration with alumni in expanding
educational access and strengthening the student development ecosystem.
