Advancing SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals): ICCBS 2025 Faterna Universitas Andalas Strengthens Global Collaboration in Sustainable Livestock Research

Padang, November 6, 2025 — Efforts to strengthen global food security through innovation in the livestock sector continue to be a key part of achieving SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). The Faculty of Animal Science (Faterna), Universitas Andalas, brought together scientists from various countries through the International Conference on Cattle and Buffalo Science (ICCBS) 2025, highlighting sustainable livestock innovation as a scientific contribution to global food systems.

The international conference, themed “Innovation and Sustainability in Cattle and Buffalo Science for Global Food Security,” was held at ZHM Premiere Hotel Padang. The event gathered academics, researchers, practitioners, and policymakers from countries including the United States, Turkiye, Malaysia, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Ghana, the Netherlands, Yemen, and Japan to discuss advancements in research and technology related to cattle and buffalo as strategic commodities supporting global food security.

Chair of the ICCBS 2025 Organizing Committee, Dr. Ir. Roni Pazla, S.Pt., MP., IPM., ASEAN Eng., emphasized that the conference was designed as a platform for cross-border scientific collaboration. “This conference serves as a forum to connect academics, practitioners, and policymakers in strengthening research collaboration across institutions and countries,” he stated.

Throughout the conference, participants presented their latest research findings and engaged in discussions on key issues in livestock science, including nutrition, reproduction, genetics, and livestock management. The forum facilitated knowledge exchange and collaboration aimed at generating innovative solutions to address global challenges in sustainable food production.

In addition to strengthening international research networks, ICCBS 2025 is expected to stimulate the emergence of innovative ideas in livestock development. These innovations are anticipated not only to enhance livestock productivity but also to improve farmers’ welfare and contribute to the sustainability of global food systems.

Through this conference, the Faculty of Animal Science, Universitas Andalas, reaffirmed its commitment to advancing global research collaboration and delivering science-based solutions for sustainable livestock development. This initiative highlights the strategic role of Universitas Andalas in supporting resilient and sustainable global food systems through international scientific partnerships.
